INTERNSHIPS AVAILABLE TO AREA EMPLOYERS


Greetings Area Employers-

The Alliance for Workforce Development, Inc. (AFWD) would like to take this opportunity to inform you that funding is now available for internships at no cost to local businesses.  Businesses receive assistance when and where it is needed and the intern develops skills that will help him or her explore a career and secure a good job.  Funding for the internships is made possible by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. 


The benefits for businesses include: 

1.       Wages, payroll taxes, & Workers’ Compensation are provided

2.       You interview and select your intern

3.       You train and develop the skills you need in a worker 

4.       The duration of the internship may vary, up to a maximum of 520 hours. 


If you are interested in participating in the AFWD Internship Program by providing a work site and mentorship for a job seeker interested in your business, occupation, and or industry, please complete the Request Form and return to me by Friday September 4, 2009  There are a limited number of Internships available.  We anticipate making the work site and intern selections and beginning the first internships in September and October.  Thank you for your interest in partnering with the Alliance for Workforce Development, Inc. to help develop our local workforce.





An internship is defined as a planned, structured learning experience(not to exceed 520 hours) that is provided through contractual work site training  by an employer in the public, private non-profit or private sector.  Internships are designed to provide the experience needed to explore careers and to secure higher paying, higher skilled employment.
